Hi again folks. As in all like, 5 of you who actually read my journal updates. Y'all get a cupcake.
With spring kinda-sorta slowly making its way here, I'm starting to get my plans together for conventions and costumes this summer.
This month is Costume-Con! I'm quite looking forward to it since it's a convention that focuses on costuming, craftsmanship and learning all kinds of fun skills. It also doesn't hurt that it's an event that exists outside the whole ridiculous culture of racing for "likes" that cosplay has unfortunately adopted. I'm working on a super fun Katy Perry costume to wear for it and wear for one of the competitions. I'm quite the fan and she's got a lot of great looks!
May has got two fun events in store - my boyfriend's birthday is coming up, and since he wants to go to Medieval Times we decided to be those shameless dorks who show up in costume. Since I've been meaning to make us ASOAIF/Game of Thrones costumes, I'm working on Stannis and Melisandre costumes for us. I'm very much looking forward to frightening small children with my witchery.
Later in May is, of course, Anime North. This is my 10th year going and this year looks to be pretty special because I'll be going as press for good old GEEKPR0N (formerly G33KPRON). Take a look out for me so I can photograph you and your cosplay for our awesome website! I'm also bringing a few of my costumes that need photographs - my improved EVA still needs some pictures, I'm repairing Luna as a favor to a group of friends being Sailor Scouts and a friend gave me her Poison Ivy costumes ages ago to get photgraphs with. @_@ So overall, that'll be a pretty busy weekend for me.
July is ConBravo, which I always go to. This year I'm hoping to do a few more panels as well as doing more Bad Fanfiction readings.
I'm working on Yang from RWBY and Kinzie from Saints Row - I'm excited about them because it means practical footwear!
Come August, there's FanExpo, which I am still largely undecided about. Covering it as press was pretty fun last year, though my team of co-writers has gotten bigger and some other people might want to go this year. We shall see!
